Dr. MacCabe received her B.S. and D.V.M. degrees from Michigan State University. After working for three years on Long Island in a small animal/exotics practice, she moved back to Pennsylvania (her home state) and opened Canadensis Veterinary Clinic, which has been in operation for 33 years. Dr. MacCabe has a special interest in surgery and is one of the few avian/exotic practitioners in the area. She has three dogs (Maya, Ringo, and Rusty) , two cats (Nopee and Yoda), and a couple of office mascots (Sadie the amazon parrot, Skittles cockatiel, Cheeseburger, the (fat) cat). In her spare time, she loves to travel, swim, hike, and paint. She has mentored several people who have gone on to become licensed technicians and veterinarians, and two of her children are also veterinarians. Dr. MacCabe enjoys doing school visits and educating children about pets and conservation.
Elizabeth Bell is a veterinarian who graduated from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine after earning her A.B. in biochemistry at Barnard College of Columbia University in New York. Naturally, she loves animals – furry, feathered, and scaly. She currently has a cat named Cookie, a Timneh African Grey parrot named Pascal , a tank of freshwater fish, and coparents a gecko named James—though this collection is subject to change without notice. She loves gardening, except when wildlife eats her garden before she gets a chance at it.
She also enjoys Morgan and Paint horses, bird watching, Carolina wrens, wood turtles, wild blueberries, Argiope spiders, and hiking, especially on the Appalachian Trail, where she has section hiked from the Schuylkill River in PA to Sages Ravine, Massachusetts. She loves companion animal medicine, especially preventive health and geriatric patient care. Dr. Bell has worked at the Canadensis Veterinary Clinic since 1999.
